Sunny Stripes Landscaping
Sunny Stripes is a family-run lawn care and landscaping company serving Sheboygan County, Wisconsin — mowing, fertilization, aeration, cleanups, mulch and stone, hardscaping, new lawns and snow. Crisp stripes, clean edges, happy yards. The kind of local service business that usually lives behind a phone number and a promise to call you back.
The Mission.
Local service websites lose work in the gap between interest and a number. Someone wonders at nine at night what a fall cleanup costs, finds a contact form, and calls the next company on the list instead. We rebuilt sunnystripes.com so the site answers the price question itself — every service on its own page, and a real figure on screen in about a minute, no callback required.
-
A Page for Every Service
The site was running generic templates, with a dozen services described in a single scroll. We rebuilt twelve of them as bespoke pages, one at a time — mowing, fertilization, aeration and overseeding, topdressing, cleanups, mulch and rock, bulk materials, hardscaping, new lawn installation, landscape design, commercial maintenance and snow. Each one opens with a headline that says plainly who the page is for, then covers what is actually included, the standards the crew works to, and the eight or nine questions customers really ask.
-
A Price on the Page
Sunny Stripes now publishes real prices online for mowing, fertilization, aeration, cleanups, bulk materials and snow, plus topdressing and commercial maintenance programs. Every one of those tools was engineered into the theme rather than rented from an app — satellite lawn measurement, season builders, coverage arithmetic — and each one ends in a real order or a tagged lead, not a form that disappears.
-
Findable, Town by Town
A service area is not one market. We built a service-areas hub and eight town pages — Sheboygan, Kohler, Sheboygan Falls, Plymouth, Howards Grove, Oostburg, Cedar Grove and Random Lake — each written around what lawns in that town actually need, and rebuilt the mega menu so every column heading leads somewhere useful instead of nowhere.
The Solution
-
Twelve Services, One Calendar
The homepage opens on a twelve-card service grid, each card carrying the pill that matches how that service is sold — instant price, build a program, or quote. Under it sits a year-in-the-yard calendar that tells a homeowner what happens in their yard each month and routes them to the page that handles it. Seasonal announcements rotate at the top of the site, so the fall renovation window gets the spotlight while it is open and steps aside when it closes.
-
Calculators That Do the Arithmetic Honestly
The bulk materials tool prices eight materials across nine depths — a quarter-inch compost dusting and a six-inch raised-bed fill are no longer quoted as the same job. Coverage is anchored to the figures already published on the page, so the calculator and the copy can never contradict each other, and when someone asks for a thin compost layer over a large lawn the tool tells them that is topdressing and points them at the cheaper service. We verified 72,000 price points before it shipped.
-
Quoting, Then Ordering
A quote is not the finish line. The tools build a real cart, so a customer can book and pay online the same way they would buy anything else, and every quote request lands in Klaviyo tagged by the service they were pricing, so the follow-up matches what they asked about. Behind that sit lifecycle emails built as editable sections, so the client can run a seasonal push without waiting on us.
Project Highlights
Twelve Bespoke Service Pages
Built and shipped one at a time over a few weeks, each previewed on a draft theme before it went anywhere near the live site. Real photographs only, no stock-and-icon mixing, one FAQ schema per page, and every page checked at phone width before publishing.
Pricing Tools, Not App Subscriptions
Satellite lawn measurement, a fertilization season builder, a snow tool that shows per-visit against seasonal side by side, a commercial maintenance worksheet and a materials calculator with depth — all custom-built into the theme. No monthly fees, no third-party scripts, and the client can edit the copy around them.
The Cleanup Nobody Sees
The site carried years of drift from an earlier catalog. We merged and redirected duplicate articles, repointed internal links to their final URLs across the blog, corrected a stale phone number in fifty-eight articles, retired off-topic sections with redirects, and audited what Google had actually indexed against what should have been.
