Our Team

The people behind the work

A small, senior team of specialists — accountable for real results, not vanity metrics.

Carl H. Martens

Founder

Built Saints & Sparrows to be the partner he'd want in his own corner — senior specialists, honest reporting, and growth measured in real revenue.

Carl H. Martens is the founder of Saints & Sparrows and an e-commerce and digital marketing leader. He started the agency on a simple conviction: that too many brands are underserved by partners who hide behind vanity metrics and jargon, and that the work should be judged on one thing — real business results.

That conviction shapes how the agency runs day to day. Under his direction, S&S has grown into a Shopify Plus e-commerce agency, pairing senior specialists across paid media, creative, SEO, and retention with a standard of candor that's rare in the industry: measure honestly, report plainly, and tie every recommendation back to the bottom line. Every engagement starts with the truth — a real audit, clean measurement, and a plan tied to the numbers that move the business.

Carl keeps the team small and senior on purpose: fewer hand-offs, more ownership, and specialists who are accountable for outcomes rather than activity. He stays close to the work and closer to the clients, because he built the company to be the kind of partner he always wanted himself — one where a client can always see exactly what they're paying for.

Bernardino Siena (“Bernie”)

Paid Media Director

Owns audits, strategy, execution, and reporting across every paid channel. Ties every dollar of spend back to real revenue — never vanity metrics.

Bernie is our Paid Media Director, owning paid strategy and execution across Google, Meta, Microsoft, and connected TV for every client we serve. He runs account audits and agency takeovers, builds and optimizes campaigns, and turns the numbers into clear, honest reporting — always tying ad spend back to real revenue, never vanity metrics. His discipline is data-first and refreshingly candid: audit deeply, protect the measurement, scale what actually works, and tell clients the truth. Around the office, just call him Bernie.

Bernardino Siena — “Bernie” — leads paid media at Saints & Sparrows, responsible for the full lifecycle of a client's advertising: auditing incumbent accounts and the work of their current agency, managing clean takeovers that protect conversion history, setting the cross-channel strategy, doing the hands-on campaign build and optimization, and delivering the reporting that keeps clients informed and confident.

His approach is simple and unusually candid for the industry: measurement comes first (a broken pixel makes every other number a lie), brand and non-brand get reported separately (so “results” are never inflated by demand the store would capture for free), and every recommendation is tied to the business outcome, not the platform's self-graded scorecard. He reads the whole funnel — paid, email, organic, and the store's actual revenue — because paid media only works when it's run as part of the whole business.

The throughline is accountability: clean measurement, honest reporting, and spend that has to justify itself in revenue. That's the standard he holds every account to, and the reason clients trust the numbers he puts in front of them.
